In the world of sales and marketing, we’re taught to believe when someone says they are in a job interview that the person is really interested in the job. This is especially true when it comes to sales and marketing positions. At that point, it’s more important than ever to show interest and to actually apply for the job you want.
This is, at best, a false assumption. It’s not uncommon for people in sales and marketing positions to not apply themselves. That’s not to say you should never try to sell yourself, but if you’ve never done so before and you want to sell yourself, you should know that a lot of people are scared to apply for positions like this.
